Yayo’s first album was the beginning of a long journey and the path continues ahead of him. Los Andes Jazz Project was experimental and used a large ensemble setting. The difference is quite big as the electric guitars and synthesizers mixed with the fiery horn section gives a much more latin flavor. Yayo’s latin jazz influences can be heard and this album has you wanting to dance, but the immensely lyrical melodies give it a mature edge worthy of a sit down audience. Like the second album he incorporates Aymaran lyrics on a couple of songs. This album clearly marks the beginning of a new approach to Latin Jazz, that will not only excite the listener but take them on a journey stretching from the Altiplano to a small downtown jazz club.

Featuring: Jerry González (tpt), Manuel Machado (tpt), Andrés Bedó (pno), Bob Sands (t/s.Sax & flute), Bobby Martínez (t/a.Sax & flute), Cheryl Walters (Tbn), Germán Kucich (pno), Jaime Muela (flute), Javier Massó ”Carmelo” (pno), José M.
